Hanging on to Summer!

We've been trying to enjoy these warm days as much as we can while they're still here.

This past week we packed our tackle box, grabbed the fishing pole, and headed out to our neighborhood pond.

~

The boys were super excited to go fishing!

~

Mason was so proud of his fishing pole! Every time he sees it in the garage, he wants to play with it. He's only been fishing a few times before, but he doesn't really remember those times.

~

Daddy showed Mason how to cast the line.

~

Mason was so cute watching and learning.

~

Then, it was time to teach the patience portion of fishing.

Waiting...

Waiting....

Waiting...

~

Mason had fun reeling in the line, even when there wasn't a fish on the end.

~

They got SO many bites!

~

Every time the bobber would go under, Mason would point and yell, "It went under!"

~

We would all get so excited, waiting to see what Christian would pull out of the water!

~

But there was one problem... the fish kept stealing the worm and swimming off! Christian didn't bring his fishing pole, only Mason's. And Mason's line wasn't strong enough to pull the fish in. But it didn't put a damper on our trip!

~
While the boys were doing their thing, I was busy chasing Morgan all around the deck.

She was crawling all over the place. She would crawl over to the bench and pull up to a stand... Watch her go!

~

She kept trying to steal all Mason's extra bobbers.

~

Mason had the best time out there. Every once in a while he would take a break from fishing to go skip down the bridge, while singing a song he made up and swinging his bobber in the air.

~
Morgan clapped the whole time. Mason thought she was "proud" of him for fishing.

~

At one point, Christian was putting a worm on the hook, when all of a sudden Mason got excited about something and took off running the opposite direction... Which ended up with the hook getting stuck IN Christian's finger INSTEAD of the worm!... Oops!!... But what's a fishing experience with a 3 year old without a little hook injury?!

~
At first, Mason didn't really want to touch the worms. He just wanted to watch Daddy do it. But once he touched one, he was dirty and slimy from then on out.

~
He kept grabbing worms, and would wiggle them in my face and say, "The worm is going to crawl on you, Mommy!"... And, "I'm going to scare you, Mommy!"... He is All Boy! But I wouldn't have it any other way!

~
Sis and I had fun watching the boys. And I must admit that I sanitized Morgan's hands and everything she touched at least 100 times... As you can see from this picture, she has one of the bobbers in her mouth, so it was a necessity as part of my mommy duty!

................................................

Another evening, we went out to the duck pond on OU's campus to have a picnic and to play some catch.

And there she went, pulling to a stand the whole time again!

~
It was the most beautiful weather to spend outside.

~

The boys playing some catch.

~

One missed catch, ended in one wet ball!

~

But they got it back, so all was well again!

...............................................

And to finish off the water play for the season, was some backyard sprinkler time!

~
Mason and Rufus would take turns eating the water.

~
Mason would run around the backyard, leap over the sprinkler, and then head to one of us to hug on... He thought it was so funny to get us wet too. And he was reeeally cold from the water!

~

Here's a video of him in action...

Summertime is officially at an end, but we got some good use out of the last hot days. Now our pumpkins and fall decorations are all around the house, and we are ready for the jeans and boots weather!
