A few days after we got back from Cancun we headed out on the road again. Late afternoon on Friday, we arrived in Kansas City for a continued celebration of the newlyweds!
Friday night John's family held a dinner called a 'Traveler's Dinner' for all the people that traveled in for the weekend.
It was a little reunion of everyone from the Mexico trip! We were all tan and peeling!
It was great to see John and Jaime again!
They had the newlywed glow going on!
~
Here are a few pictures showing Chris (what he went by growing up) and Baikie from high school... Quite the track studs, I might add!
BOOM, Front Row!! (the two on the right)
They were handsome even back then!
So young and adorable!
~
And, look at them now all grown up, responsible and married!... well, they are grown up and married anyway. ;)
~
John's dad, Richard, gave a speech that was heartfelt and hilarious. He named the celebration "The Neverending Wedding" since it wasn't the typical one night event.
Then we all joined in on a tradition that him and Kathy did at their wedding (I think they said was 40 years ago!)
It was a song, cheers and chug that was sung to each of the tables.
It was so fun to take part in their family tradition!
The next day, Christian and I went to The Plaza. They have awesome shopping there! It's not like a typical Outlet Mall, it was even better! We got the kid's Easter outfits, a few things for ourselves and went to a movie.
That evening we got all dolled up for the Reception! Christian looked handsome as ever in his suit from the wedding, and I loved my dress that I'd been dying to find a reason to wear it!
The Baikie's were busy mingling with everyone, but we managed to steal them here and there to hang out with.
~
They had a photo booth there with a box of props to make it even more fun!
We started out serious...
There were toasts, delicious cake, dancing and lots of laughter!
Christian, John and Jacob.
Me with the beautiful Baikie girls, Kathy and Lauren.
Love these guys!
At the end of the night our cheeks were hurting from smiling so much, the guy's ties were untied, and our feet were aching from dancing so much... just the way a good night should end!
Thank you so much to all the Baikie's... Kathy, Richard, Lauren, John, and the new addition, Jaimie. You all are so dear to our hearts. You are such good hearted, genuine, caring, giving and down to earth people. We are so thankful that you allowed us to be a part of such a special occasion. Thank you for always embracing us as if we were part of your family. You all are truly a blessing in our lives that we will forever be thankful to be able to share life with.
